I’ve seen you,
Watched you
While you sat in your room
Surrounded by
Maps and charts and graphs
Planning out stratagems
And fabricating airtight alibis
I sat there
Both onlooker and main character
As your plans
Came to fruition
While you filled your
Gaps in action
With clever fiction
I smiled,
Sighed at you
During your plaintive
And lengthy explanations and apologies
About your motives
Begging for understanding and
Forgiveness and permission to do it again
But I knew the difference
Between a hawk and a hand-saw
All along.
