Lack of oxygen to the brain
or a lack of brain
The latter: head trauma
The former: everything else
Until then
your body
devoted to your brain
fills incessant orders
for glucose and oxygen
Keeps you alive
whether you deserve it
or not
Death lays her eggs in your heart
and the earth takes you back
after life has molested
and infected you
Murdered in an alley
Draped in a flag
Turning grey over a
shit-filled bedpan
Love is a middle finger
to the tragedy of being born

Apology To A Poem I Forgot To Write

Metal Between My Legs
The concept of happiness floats like a feather over my head But it isn’t obeying the laws of gravity It looms over me, motionless, quiet, and dull Like the height requirement on a roller coaster to a short kid Both of us are incapable of grasping what hangs over us…in Poetry Read 3314 times

Polaroids
“You know Bonnie, right?”“No.” I lied. I didn't want to be bothered, not by Tim Snyder, not in the middle of a quiz in the math class I was already failing, and definitely not about Bonnie.“Sure you do, I see you with her all the time.”“Oh, yeah. She lives in…in Fiction Read 2822 times

Home
The legacy of my past is a dichotomy of two selves. One half of me wants to be here, the other somewhere else. Wherever I am, it is the wrong place for part of me. I straddle two worlds, not fully comfortable in either. I can live anywhere but am…in Fiction Read 61 times
